Calima is a natural weather phenomenon prevalent in the Canary Islands, including Gran Canaria. It occurs when fine particles of Saharan sand and dust are carried by warm winds from the African desert and spread over the region. The presence of these tiny particles creates a hazy atmosphere, giving the sky an otherworldly golden hue. While calima may reduce visibility and bring higher temperatures, for me it offers a unique opportunity to create truly magical images.
